Children

Kids in Crisis

Many parents experience frustration, fear and anger as they watch the progress of their children. Oftentimes we imagine the worst, and then see signs within our child that affirm our fears. A similar effect works when we imagine the best, and watch for the positive signs.

As children grow through stages in life they will have bouts with rebellion and rejection. In some stages it would seem that the negative behavior far outweighs the positive. During these times focus on something good. The Bible says to "think on these things ..." whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, gracious, excellent, and worthy of praise. (Philippians 4:8 Amplified Bible) Compliment them freely and often.

A favorite verse to remind us that the Lord has plans for our children is Isaiah 54:17 in the Amplified Bible, "And all your [spiritual] children shall be disciples - taught of the Lord [and obedient to His will]; and great shall be the peace and undisturbed composure of your children. " Put your child's name in the space for children, for example, "And Dean shall be a disciple - taught of the Lord and obedient to His will, and great shall be Dean's peace and undisturbed composure".

God's blessings and peace to you and your family.
