ChildrenREADING TO YOUR CHILDREN Each of us parents have an oipportunity to train up a child in the way they should go. Even if our patience and IQs are not high level, we can determine in our hearts to use our time wisely. Parents of infants can read out loud just about anything they want to; the Sunday comics, trade manuals, the Wall Street Journal, scientific journals and most importantly, the Bible. As your child matures switch to an age-specific book. Bibles come in a variety of forms and levels, some with delightful, colorful pictures, some with pictures from the Middle East. Youll be amazed at the things you will learn yourself. Reading is one of those activities that can be done almost anywhere, on a plane, at the beach, in a car, at a family reunion, just before naps. Think of the excitement in your child as they hear others talk about David and Goliath, and your child recognizes the names. Think of the advantages in schooling when a phrase, such as putting out a fleece comes into play. Think of your pleasure in knowing that you followed Gods teaching in Proverbs, that you should train up a child in the way they should go, and when they are old they will not depart from it. Enjoy your reading, Diane Morstad |
