VIDEO AND COMPUTER GAMES

We are in a fast moving, highly technological society. One of the biggest benefits of the electronic age is the computer you are now using. One of the biggest drawbacks of the electronic age is the computer you are now using. Amazing that one of the biggest blessings in our society could also be a major curse.

There are many options available for our children. There are computer games and Internet sites that fascinate them. There are programs that take them far beyond the limits of their physical location. As parents, we need to monitor their activities and their travels. Some computer games encourage violence and sexual activity. If you notice subtle or obvious negative changes in your child’s interaction with other children, such as hitting or mean teasing or threats, take time to look at their computer interaction. Some games encourage children to dress differently or act out the fantasy story. You need to limit how much time your child spends with these types of programs.

The Bible warns us to carefully choose what we set our eyes upon. Amazingly, that verse was written way before modern films, television and computers, all which take "watching" in some form or another.

Enjoy the Internet, but take care for yourself and your children.
