Graduation?

We have just come through a season of graduations. Our children can graduate from preschool, elementary school, middle school, junior high, senior high, home school, college, sports sessions, music classes, driver’s ed, and many other options.

We get certificates and recognition plaques, ribbons and trophies. We can have parties, open houses, notices in local newspapers, and announcements at church. All of our hard work culminates in the ceremony with its own form of "Pomp and Circumstance".

Learning doesn’t stop at graduation, though. A proverb says, "The wise also will hear and increase in learning, and the person of understanding will acquire skill and attain to sound counsel". The writer continues with, "The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning and the principal and choice part of knowledge [its starting point and its essence]".

If you want to start your children on the path to learning, take a lesson yourself from the writer of Proverbs. Teach them the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord.
