Reporting for Love Lines from Korea and Manila....

Greetings to all.

I want to thank you for your prayer. The trip to South Korea and Manila was "over the top" and exceedingly successful. Here are some "snapshot impressions." I spoke (through translators), In Seoul and Taejeon, another major city, to crowds of some two to three thousand, and smaller groups of fifty to 75, two and three times a day for a week. General audiences and leaders. All the meetings experienced a manifest presence of God with attesting signs following with demonic manifestations and resultant healing.

The people are a praying people, hence the reason for the dramatic results. They are also very open and receptive to the Message and the messenger as a result there was a real flow in the teaching, preaching. The South Koreans have a childlike, joyful faith. The people defer to, and honor one another and their leaders. A servant spirit. They enjoy reading Scripture out loud together.

Intercessory prayer takes up a good part of their meetings. In terms of methodology and cultural practice, those ministering must remove their shoes and minister in sandals. Praise and worship is exuberant. The musicians are quite adept and use many songs and hymns from the Church here in the West.

One is expected to pray for the people, individually, for at minimum of an hour, after the teaching sessions; which alone can last up to an hour and a half, not including the worship. They apparently have no visions of Sunday fried chicken dinners dancing in their heads. They are hungry for "real food," and desire the "blessing of the Lord," in a tangible, concrete way.

The people, more often than not, fall down when they are prayed for. I spent some time teaching on this manifest "glory" of the Lord, and God's purpose in demonstrating Himself in this manner, so that we didn't get caught up in the Charismatic Circus. The meetings are constituted predominately by women. There are also many women leaders and pastors. I spoke to one group comprised of over 1000 women. There was much brokeness and rejoicing.

Everyone wants your business card. There is a real desire for the dividing wall between North and South Korea to come down, much like the Berlin Wall. Many families have friends and relatives living and dying in North Korea, they have not seen or heard from for years. They ask for our prayers in this regard. Many South Koreans have a deep concern for the moral condition of the USA and pray for us that the true Church will stand.

Manila, Philippines This was my seventh visit there and our Filipino Family is healthy and growing! Relationships are good. The 700 Club Asia, is expanding and building audience. Since Gordon Robertson's departure to return here to the USA, the Club is presently hosted by Cony Reyes, a well known actress in the Philippines, and a wonderful Godly, compassionate woman. Scott Ross Straight Talk, is also doing well continuing to hold down a #1 position in it's Friday night time slot.

Operation Blessing is ministering at a very practical level to the multitudinous needs of the Filipino people. OB celebrated their third year anniversary while I was there, at a banquet attended by numerous government and military leaders, who were exposed to the Gospel by numerous Filipino singers and entertainers. Asian Center for Missions, founded by Gordon Robertson, is closely affiliated with CBN and continues to expand and send people to India, Thailand, Indonesia, and China. The Philippines is a "sending" nation and they are rising in the purposes of God.

I love these folks. And they do appreciate your prayer. In regard to the people in South Korea and the Philippines, I experienced this protective, fatherly thing that is expressed so well in Matthew 18 (Peterson translation):

"If you receive the childlike on My account, it's the same as receiving Me. But if you give them a hard time, bullying or taking advantage of their simple trust, you'll soon wish you hadn't. You'd be better off dropped in the middle of the lake with a millstone around your neck...for giving these God-believing children a hard time."

China

I am now off to China for over a week, for a number of things I will talk about later, and then back through Los Angeles and Northern California. Nedra meets me in California along with three out of four of our children and a grandchild. I return here July 12. Incidentally our last kid, Ryan Christopher, graduates from high school this Thursday. He shows interest in television and ministry. Sounds familiar!

I continue to appreciate and covet your prayer support, letters, e-mail, faxes, and phone calls.

To those of you who know Nedra, she sends love. If you don't know her, she sends it to you too!

With gratitude, for the King and Kingdom,

Scott Ross
